The first religious fundamental to which Allah’s
Messenger [saws] called, was Tawheed (the Oneness
of Allah), which is expressed by the testimony, ‘La ilaha illa Allah’
(meaning, none has the right to be worshiped except Allah). He [saws] spent thirteen years in Makkah explaining the Oneness of
Allah.

A
pillar of Tawheed is Rejecting Tâghût and avoiding it!
[Q16v36]
One of the brothers
asked:
“If I wear a pair of Nike
sneakers, am I worshiping Nike?
If I drive a Saturn car, am I
worshiping Saturn?”
I reminded him
that the “Firm
Statement [Q14v27]”...
لا
إله إلا الله
...means, we refute, repudiate and disavow, any representation of
a rival to Allah!
Perpetuating tâghût such as Nike,
Saturn, Frigg,
Thor, Odin,
Tiw, Mars and
Janus is shirk.
When one testifies that
"there is no god, except Allah", but does
not struggle against the false representations that exist within the
society; that one's testimony is not truthful. The difference between
merely being a Muslim, and being a Mu’min
(Believer), is in the truthfulness of the oath.
Allah, Most Merciful, did not leave mankind to

fend off an avowed enemy.
He sent a Messenger

The Messenger
was the Prophet Muhammad [saws] and the Book is the Qur'an ul Kareem. Comprehension of the concept of
Tawheed is incomplete without taking into account the second testimony:
وأشهد أن محمدا رسول الله
